EGAN AT LARGE
Five oceans ring the world
North Sea
Indian Ocean
Atlantic Ocean
PacificOcean
SouthernOcean
...in lost wax casting the sense of elemental power, the glee of working with flame, seeing metal flow into new shapes reaches my soul.
INDIAN OCEAN I like my strong hands and I love water; especially the ocean. Childhood memories return of lying on the beach with my eyes closed tight against the African sun, all the better to attend the off-beat thump of the waves. I cast my first ring and called it Indian Ocean.

SILVER STREAM
The calm meandering trail of silver. Easy to wear and looks good on it’s own or combined with the Indian Ocean ring.
.
MAMI WATA RING
This is a ceremonial ring worn only for special occasions. Wata Mami or Mama Wata is a mythological Goddess born from the chaos of the confluence of the Congo River at the equator. When trouble comes to a woman’s life it is Mami Wata calling to urge her to seek the wisdom of The Diviners.
I made the Mami Wata ring many years ago but at last I heed the advice and work with metal in three dimensions to soothe my troubles away.
THE SECRET PEARL RING
A languid trail of water shadows cradling a baroque pearl. This is designed to rest in the space between the fingers rather than to perch on top of the finger. Constructed from wrought and planished silver.
THE DARK PEARL RING
A wrought silver coil twines around the finger emerging in an offset blossom of planished and tarnished sterling holding a baroque Tahitian pearl.
Ocean Bracelet
A bead of light plays along the edge of the wave, a swelling current of silver encircling the wrist with the rythm of ebb and fow: the pulse of the ocean.
My Design philosophy
As a large woman myself I have a special affinity for making bold jewellery. I have strung many dramatic necklaces to suite the scale of a fulsome body. Frustrated by the scarcity of creative adornments that fit big hands I decided to make my own silver rings. I like my strong hands and I love water especially the ocean.
When I did a course in lost wax casting the sense of elemental power, the glee of working with flame to melts silver and make it flow into three dimensional form reached my soul. Childhood memories of lying on the beach with my eyes closed tight against the African sun all the better to attend the off-beat thump of the waves. When I caste my first ring it seemed mysterious, powerful and bold so I named it after the Indian Ocean.
I grew to love the feel of it on my hand and was delighted when a stranger on the subway asked where they could buy one like it. A neighbour asked if I’d make her one for an engagement ring, my Dearest Man tried it on and it seemed resplendent, a tiny woman who wears a ring on every finger wants one too. I realize that the boldness is not in the size but from the heart.
